The recent drop in the popularity of the US president in the eyes of the citizens of the United States has led the government and in particular, Obama to indoctrinate practices that were foreign to his campaign for the last election. With the 2012 elections coming up, it is the new political strategy of the Obama’s government to incorporate features of faith and religion into his election campaign. This move takes into account how the use of faith and religion in the history of the United States has always managed to swing a few voters to the way of the president’s favor.

However, the direction taken by Obama suffers from one major flaw in that the image of a faith person is a new one that probably does not have sufficient time to stick to the general public’s conscience. Supporters of Obama agree collectively that he is a Christian but those who have started to dislike his actions and his motives have branded him to be a Muslim, which might be nothing more than the disgruntled thoughts of a handful.

However, the latest political strategy of religion used by Obama suffers from one major flaw in that he is a pro-gay and lesbian rights activist saying that they should be treated equal with the rest of the society and therefore be given equal rights. This goes against the principles of hard Christian followers who dominate the country. It remains to be seen if this new political strategy shall work as one year seems to be too short for Obama to make amendments to his claims on faith that he has touted for the past four years in power.
